Paying Tuition and Fees

BruinBill, the UCLA campus billing platform, is where you can manage and pay for registration fees, campus charges, housing, transportation fees and more. BruinBill is available 24/7; just log on to MyUCLA (you’ll need your UCLA Logon ID) to access it.

Fees are assessed monthly via BruinBill and payment is due on the 20th of the month following the posting date of the charge. If the 20th falls on a weekend or a holiday, the due date is the last business day before the 20th.

NOTE: Posted tuition, fees and charges are estimates based on currently approved amounts. These figures may not be final. Actual tuition, fees and charges are subject to change by the Regents of the University of California and could be affected by State funding reductions. Accordingly, final approved fees and charges (and thus a students final balance due) may differ from the amounts shown.

Helpful BruinBill Services

Bruin Direct is the fastest way to get a BruinBill refund (e.g. financial aid refund). Members are refunded by direct deposit into a U.S. checking or savings account. Youll get your funds in 2–3 business days and avoid waiting for mailed checks. Sign up directly on your BruinBill by clicking “Enroll” under “My BruinDirect.”

With Third Party View you can authorize a third party, such as a parent, to access your BruinBill account. Theyll be able to make payments, sign up to receive payment deadline email reminders and get details about your billing account (which can only be disclosed to you or a designated third party).

By enrolling in BruinPay Plan (BPP), you can spread your term tuition into monthly installments. Check your BruinBill to see if you’re eligible for the plan and enroll under “My BruinPay Plan.” You must enroll in BPP for each term for which you wish to have an installment plan.

How to Pay Your BruinBill

Review the BruinBill Payment Methods Guide, summarized below, to find the best payment option for you.

Online through MyUCLA

On your BruinBill landing page, select “Make a Payment” from the top ribbon. You’ll be redirected to a payment page. Online payments must be completed by 5:00 p.m. (PT) on the deadline date. You can pay using the following methods:

E-check

  • We recommend using an electronic check in order to avoid service fees. Your payment posts instantly. You must have a U.S. bank checking or savings account.

Credit/Debit Card

  • Your payment will post instantly. A 2.75% transaction fee is charged for each payment.

Foreign Currency

  • Created to accommodate international students, this is a convenient way to wire funds and receive comparable exchange rates for a select period of time. Select “Pay by foreign currency” and follow the prompts.

In Person

Pay in person at the cashiering office (Payment Solutions & Compliance Office) located at 1125 Murphy Hall. In-person payments must be completed by 4:00 p.m. (PT) on the deadline date. In-person payments are processed the same day.

You may pay using a paper check, cashier’s check or money order. Cash is accepted, but as a personal safety precaution, we advise against large sum cash payments. Credit/debit cards are not accepted in person.

By Mail

Payments sent by mail require up to 10 business days to be processed once received. They should be made out to “UC Regents” and include the student’s name, nine-digit university identification number, and the BruinBill account type (i.e. Registration Fees & Campus Charges, Housing or Transportation) on the payment.

When to Pay Your BruinBill

For regular undergraduate students, tuition and housing fees are assessed before each quarter begins. Your BruinBill reflects your balance due after your anticipated financial aid disbursement. If anticipated financial aid does not fully cover your fees, you’re still responsible for making a payment by the deadline. It is important that you regularly review your BruinBill throughout the term for new charges to avoid incurring delinquency fees.

Account holders must pay all charges in full by the 20th of the month following the posting date of the charge. If the 20th falls on a weekend or holiday, the due date is the last business day before the 20th. Payment must be made by 5:00 p.m. (PT) online or by 4:00 p.m. (PT) if made in person at the Payment Solutions & Compliance Office at 1125 Murphy Hall.

Bi-weekly email reminders are sent to account holders with a balance. Please ensure your MyUCLA email address is up to date at all times. Continue to monitor your account for six months after your affiliation ends with UCLA.

Please note, if student services fees are not paid in full by the payment deadline the account will be subject to late fees, holds will be placed on the account, and classes will be dropped in accordance with the drop class deadline (see the Registrar’s Calendar for class drop dates specific to each term).

Frequently Asked Questions

If your financial aid awards are sufficient to cover the full cost of your tuition/fees, you don’t need to make a payment. Your fees will be paid automatically when your aid is applied to your account at the beginning of each quarter.

UCLA housing charges won’t be paid via the financial aid disbursement process at the start of each quarter. You’ll need to make a housing payment directly to UCLA Housing Services when you receive your BruinDirect refund. Housing Services has a payment plan designed for financial aid recipients that will allow your family to defer housing payments until the financial aid disbursement cycle at the start of each quarter.
