The UCLA School of Nursing offers a prelicensure baccalaureate program leading to the Bachelor of Science degree.
Applicants to the School of Nursing must fill out the UC Application and a supplemental application.
The prelicensure nursing degree program is intended to prepare entry-level nurses to care for patients at the bedside. The program has been developed according to the principles of primary, secondary and tertiary prevention, moving from a systems population-based approach to a cohort-based or unit-based perspective, and culminating with an intense focus on individual-level of care. Strong emphasis will be placed on clinical leadership and critical thinking skills. The School of Nursing offers a two-year and three-year program.
Applicants must have 90 to 105 quarter units (60 to 70 semester units) of transferable coursework, a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.5 in all transferable courses and have fulfilled the University's American History and Institutions requirement. Applicants from a California Community College must provide IGETC certification upon entrance; partial IGETC will not be accepted. Other transfer students must complete the School of Nursing’s general education requirements.

Applicants must complete the following course requirements for the prelicensure nursing program with grades of C or better.
Course Requirements
Required:
- One year of general biology for the major (cellular and molecular)
- One year of general chemistry for the major
- One semester of organic chemistry for the major
- Human anatomy with lab
- Human physiology with lab
Strongly recommended:
- Introductory or general microbiology
- Introductory psychology
- Introduction to communication or speech
- One course in calculus for life science or with analytic geometry
