Major Preparation Requirements
- At least one year of an Asian language (e.g. Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Tagalog, Vietnamese, Hindi/Urdu, etc.)
- Two or more courses from:
- Chinese art
- Indian/Southeast Asian art
- Asian religions
- History of Asia (post-1750)
- Sociocultural anthropology
- Cultural geography
- Contemporary world history
- World literature
- Comparative politics
- Economic geography
- Macroeconomics
- Microeconomics
- Introductory sociology
- Asian civilization (Chinese, Korean, or Japanese)
Required by end of spring before transfer
- At least two of the preparatory courses listed above (in addition to foreign language)
NOTE:
- One year of high school in which the primary language of instruction was an Asian language may be used to satisfy the language requirement for admission purposes. Completion of two years of college level foreign language is strongly recommended.
- High School foreign language classes will NOT satisfy major preparation requirements.
