Major Preparation Requirements

  • At least one year of a modern European language other than English
  • Two or more courses from:
    • History of Europe (post-1750)
    • French culture/civilization
    • French literature
    • Russian literature
    • Russian film
    • Sociocultural anthropology
    • Cultural geography
    • Contemporary world history
    • World literature
    • Comparative politics
    • Economic geography
    • Macroeconomics
    • Microeconomics
    • Introductory sociology

Note: One year of high school in which the primary language of instruction was a modern European language may be used to satisfy the language requirement for admission purposes. Completion of two years of college level foreign language is strongly recommended.

 

* Students are classified as Pre-European Studies until lower division preparation courses are completed at UCLA.
